A storm that came up the East Coast has pretty much guaranteed a white Christmas for the Suburban Garden. The snow was very light, thus the snow blower did it's job quickly and easily. Paths were created for the bird sanctuary and to the compost bin. Cold is predicted right through the end of this week, so all, but the roads will continue to be covered. Focus is now on making sure the birds have a nice supply of food. One of the bird feeders blew away and while looking for it, I ended up stepping on it. From the size of the finches perched on their feeder, all is well for them. I will pick up another feeder today, so we will have three feeders and one Suet feeder that some of the bigger birds (mainly the Downey Woodpecker and Blue Jays) are using. Today we had a Cardinal visit as well. Back in the garden area, all is at rest with good snow coverage. Hopefully that will help the garden regenerate for next year.
We replaced the garden room's two main windows and door with a six foot sliding door that will allow more light into the room and help next spring with new plants. We have already started with geranium and mum cuttings. The geraniums are doing very well and the mums, though struggling a bit, seem to be holding on ok.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.
The Garden in the Suburbs.
