Palm Sunday
Today was a sad day, as it marked the first year of my Dad's death. I tried to think good thoughts and a phone call from Germany was a pleasant surprise, as I didn't think I could make that call back to his family in Germany on this day. I was going to wait until his birthday, May 4, as that seemed to be a better occasion. Yet the call was warm and gentle and we exchanged kind thoughts and nice memories.
Back here, his sunroom has been turned into our garden room with lots and lots of plant life growing, waiting for some good weather so they can go into the ground outside. I was surprised by how well the mini greenhouse worked today. Despite some winds and temperatures that did not get out of the mid 40's, the temperature inside the mini greenhouse was a comfortable 70 for most of the day. There was even some condensation going on. So, I am happy with the progress of my tomatoes, and lots of Nancy's flowers, which also seem to like the greenhouse effect (they mostly reside in the portable cold frame.
Here is a photo of the largest of my 4th of July tomato plants, although I have smaller ones which have bigger tomatoes on them. I am putting some liquid fertilizer in the water once every two weeks and they seem to enjoy that as well. No, that is not a pumkin in the background.
