Don't Mess with Mother Nature
The nice weather we had a while back hasn't lasted. In fact, we face sub 40 degree temps every night and rain during the day. Fortunately, the call for snow was a false alarm, so my plastic covers seem to have been adequate enough that none of the plants have suffered too much.
I have had the best luck with my broccoli plants that are mostly under cover and the garlic plants, that don't seem to mind the cold. The onions are finally starting to show their green, while the peas under cover are growing nicely (better than the peas I started indoors and moved outside). The peas with no cover are just starting to show some green, while the potatoes seem to be content just waiting for better weather.
My tomatoes are getting tired of being carried out and back in, as I am. I am hoping by the middle of next week I can plant some of the tomatoes using my round fencing and plastic covering. Once I have that set up I will provide some photos. All in all, I am happy with the progress as most of my early plants have some nice tomatoes on them. The second group of tomato seedlings are also growing well, with the better boy doing the best. They won't go in until the middle of May.
Tomorrow I begin my corn seeds (a bit late) along with cucumber and pepper seeds. I should have those ready to go into the ground by the end of May.
