In The Ground

I couldn't resist!  Another 75 degree day and out I was putting in my peas, spinach and radishes.  So, now I keep my fingers crossed and hope no low 20's over the next 3 weeks.  Although our last frost date is supposed to be April 20, in reality we have had frost that has done damage as late as May 10.  I think I am prepared, as I planted most items in areas that I can cover with plastic if necessary.  In fact, my early peas, broccoli and chives are under plastic.  I will probably do the same for the onions tomorrow.  I am also covering Nancy's snapdragons just to be on the safe side.

The wind was up a bit this afternoon, so I took in the tomatoes and other seedlings early, so that there would not be any wind damage.  It is really great to have this special weather and having the tomatoes large enough already that they can take advantage of this warm spell.  Hauling 14 plants in and out of the house every day isn't the most fun, but seeing the tomatoes getting bigger and bigger surely is.  I just need to keep all the seedlings and tomato plants watered so that they do not dry out.

Next up is getting 128 seeds into my plastic growing pack and we are going to try petunias and impatients.  I have some petunias, but either forgot to plant impatients or they just didn't come up the first time around.  We are a bit late for these, as it takes about 3 weeks just for the seeds to come up, but we will give it a try.  I will also try some Italian parsley.  I bought one clove of garlic just to try and see how that works, as I never tried that before.
