Windy and Cold
Well, the waiting continues as the weather is playing some games with the garden plantings. Temps have been quite a bit lower the last few days (back to normal) and the wind has picked up quite a bit. I am constantly going out and getting my tomato plants upright after each cycle of wind comes through. Today I built another mini greenhouse so that the tomato plants were protected from the wind, but could still go out and enjoy the sun. The other more permanent mini greenhouse has three tomato plants in the ground (in for over a week now), plus two broccoli plants and some small lettuce plantings. With temps going down into the high 30's the next couple of days, it will be interesting to see how the tomatoes hold out.
I planted garlic earlier in the week and find them already growing quite a bit. The same can't be said for the onions. I had to put some netting over the onions, as the neighbors' cat seems to like digging them up.
I put in another 12 snapdragon plantings today, as well. They are covered with plastic overnight and have looked quite good. The other broccoli plants are covered with my plastic portable cold frame and are doing very well. One other broccoli plant has a wall of water around it. I tried this last year with a little bit of success, so I thought I would give it another try.
The rest of the plantings continue being put out during the day and brought in to the house each evening. Most are healthy looking and growing well.
