Almost Spring - Feb 4, 2012

Jackson Rose wide eyed and bushy tailed, is starting to recognize different objects, seems to like "Shorty" and Oma and tolerates his grandfather...(it must be the glasses I wear).

First tomato of the season.  This plant is from a cutting of Matthew's Super Sweet taken late last fall just before the first frost.  It has grown inside since then and, although a bit hard to see, has two red tomatoes on the vine.  It was a little experiment to just see what would happen to tomato plants nurtured over winter.

I saw a web site that showed how to build a light grow system for about $25 (if you have the lights and the chains to hold the lights) using 3/4 inch pvc piping.  I can fit two light units and four 72 or 128 cells.

I am growing a few determinate tomatoes (heirloom siberian) and my usual 4th of July plants with the idea of growing them inside the greenhouse when I set that up again in March.
