Completing the Harvest
As the nights get colder and the dew rests on the leaves and vegetables early in the morning, our gardening is starting to come to a close. This year's production has been very good. both my freezer in the kitchen and the one in the basement are filled with produce picked from the garden. Lots of produce were also given to neighbors, friends and family. I couldn't be happier with the results this year.
Today, I did some canning, filling up quite a few jars with tomato sauce, as the tomatoes continue to produce. I also did about 7 jars of senf gerken (German mustard cucumbers) a favorite for me. Here is a photo of some of the larger tomatoes that are new in my jars....

So, as the season slowly comes to an end, I still have lots of potatoes to dig up and there are carrots wanting to be pulled as well. The greenhouse has some late tomatoes and eggplant still growing. Then there is the final cleanup of the season and prepping the soil for next spring.
On a side note, here is a nice photo of Jackson during our stay on Cape Cod for a week in the middle of August. I think Jack loved his time there, as he enjoys digging in the sand, swimming in the ocean and playing with his mom and dad around the homestead.
