Mother's Day

Today is a day of mixed feelings.  It is a wonderful celebration of two moms here at home, Nancy and Tabitha.  Both had a nice morning with calls and visits.  Missing are two very important moms that were so instrumental in both our lives.  My mom, "Trudy" and Nancy's mom Marion.  We think of them almost every day and it seems a bit empty that wishing them Happy Mother's Day is no longer a part of our yearly celebration.

Our legacy goes on, however, as Nancy has Merrill, Nick and Tabitha and Tabitha has Jackson.  As husband and father, I enjoy this day.  I am usually away at a track meet on this weekend, but Mother's Day is a week early and I no longer travel down to Princeton.

The only negative for this year is that the lilacs are just a bit late, due to our very long, cold winter.  Usually the lilacs are blooming and a bouquet of lilacs would be sitting on the kitchen table.

The weather has turned quite quickly with temperatures in the high 70's and low 80's coming around this week.  That has led to a rush of having lots of gardening chores, mainly getting plants into the ground.

I was delayed for a few days as my efforts to put in a drainage system for the front gutter ended up taking a very long time due to not knowing what I was doing.  I ended up putting in 2 inch piping that goes out to the pine trees.

On the gardening front, I am almost done with the irrigation lines to the different plants, using pvc piping rather than soaker hoses.  I am hopeful this will work ok.

Here are some photo updates.
My Dad's lilacs, also almost ready to bloom.
